TERROT - INNOCENCE Ph. Terrot (Genève), No. 14304. Made circa 1780. Very fine and rare, quarter-repeating, 18K gold, painted on enamel and rose-cut diamond-set pocket watch. C. Two-body, Directoire, with rose-cut diamond-set bezel in a radial pattern with translucent royal blue enamel borders, the back decorated with a fine oval painted on enamel portrait of a lady in classical costume holding a white dove representing innocence, outer border enameled with two peacocks and translucent royal blue enamel flowers set with rose-cut diamond highlights. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 38 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel endpiece, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed. DIAM. 57 mm. Notes Philippe Terrot (1696, Pont-en- Royans, Dauphiné, France - 1781, Saconnex, near Geneva) A refugee in 1700, he arrived in Geneva and officially obtained Swiss naturalization in 1732. He took Jean-Pierre Thuillier in partnership between 1735 and 1750. They created high quality gold watches decorated with enamel and porcelain, and also religious clocks.
