Important, fine Pennsylvania silk on silk needlework memorial wrought by Mary Ann Mitchell, student at Bethlehem Female Seminary(1806-1809), with floral garland suspending central cartouche of a mourning lady beside tomb, inscribed "George Mitchell departed this life the 14th day of June 1793 Aged 5 months and 18 days", beneath a willow tree, in a reverse painted frame, 18 1/8" x 20 1/2". Provenance: George Mitchell was the first born child of Revolutionary War hero and later Governor of Delaware, Nathaniel Mitchell(1752-1813).
