OMEGA SEAMASTER, REF. 166.078 SO-CALLED "HARD METAL" NEW OLD STOCK Omega, "Seamaster Automatic", movement No. 25689076, Ref. 166.078. Made circa 1970. Fine and rare, large, hardened stainless steel, shock-resistant, water-resistant, self-winding, center-seconds wristwatch with date and a gold-plated Omega strap. Two-body, polished and brushed, scratch-resistant steel hardened by bombardment with Tungsten, flat and inclined bezel, recessed crown, hooded lugs, screw-down back with the Seamaster logo, flat mineral crystal. Satine silver with applied gilt and black baton indexes, outer minute and seconds divisions, date aperture, outer matte blue border with white line. Gilt and black baton hands. Cal. 565, held by 4 synthetic studs for full shock resistance, copper-colored, 24 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance, shock absorber, self-compensating flat balance spring, swan-neck micrometer regulator. Notes Dial, case and movement signed. DIM. 44 x 48.5 mm. THICKNESS 12.8 mm. The cambered rectangular case of the Ref. 166.078 "Hard Metal" is hardened by bombardment with tungsten (1,200 Vickers). The caliber 565 movement is fixed in a ring held inside a container by four synthetic studs, ensuring full shock-resistance.
