Romi ly a Paris, circa 1790. "Lettre d'amour" Fine 18K gold and enamel pearl-set watch. White enamel with Arabic numerals and outer minute ring. Gold hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Diam. 52 mm. Notes James Thomson (1700-1748) Scottish poet. He anticipated the romantics' feeling for nature in The Seasons, written between 1726 and 1730.
