George Clarck, London, No. 5137, with London hallmarks for 1748.Fine 22K gold pair-cased, half quarter repeating watch. Double-body outer, the bezel pierced and chased with foliage, the back repoussé with a mythological scene, the border pierced and engraved with decoration matching that of the bezel. Double-body inner bassine pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage, the back centred with engraved flowers. Later custom made, gold engine-turned with Roman numerals. Gold “poker and beetle” hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with turned baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring. Gilt brass English cock with diamond-end-stone. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant.Signed on the back plate.Diam. 48 mm.
