Angiolo Rota, a Roma, circa 1720. Very fine and rare pair-cased coach watch. Outer: double-body, silver mounted and chagrin entered with silver disc. Inner: double-body, "bassine", silver, polished. Fire-gilded full-plate, verge escapement, plain four-arm steel balance, 2.5 coil steel balance spring, two-feet large cock pierced and engraved with three masks and foliage decoration, fusee and chain.Signed on the movement.Diam. 91 mm. Notes Angiolo Rota worked in Rome at the turn of 17th and 18th century. There is a record that in 1717 he built a timepiece for Don Alessandro Colonna.
