Jules Assmann, Glashütte, No. 15973, circa 1900.Very fine and possibly unique 18K gold hunting-cased, keyless, minute-repeating watch with carillon on three gongs and three hammers. Four-body, "bassine", massive, polished, gold hinged cuvette over glazed gold bezel for viewing the movement. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute ring with five-minute Arabic figures, subsidiary sunk seconds. Gold "Louis XV" hands. Notes This watch is the only known carillon made by Jules Assmann. Only Assmann and Uhrenfabrik Union produced few carillons in Germany during the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
