Baltasar Martinot à Paris, circa 1700. Very fine and rare silver pair-cased, quarter-repeating "oignon" watch. Outer: double-body, leather-covered with silver pinned rosette in the center. Inner: "bassine" form with split bezel and loose ring pendant, the band pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage. White enamel with bold Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute track with blued steel "poker and beetle" hands. 46.2 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate with turned baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, short flat balance spring, rack and pinion regulaor with small silver disc, gilt brass Louis XIV cock pierced and engraved with birds and foliage.
