Marchal, especially made for Mr. and Mrs. M. Georgi as a present to their granddaughter, circa 1890.Exceptionally fine gold and painted on enamel in the style of Huaud, pair-cased keyless pendant watch in original leather fitted box. Outer: Two-body, "Louis XV", back finely chased with a mythological scene, Inner: Two-piece, "bassine" with curved-in edge, the back finely painted on enamel depicting Venus and Mars, with Cupid holding a mirror, four vignettes with rural landscapes, gold bezel. White and painted on enamel, radial Roman numerals on white ring, inner half hours, center finely painted with a stream and mountains. Blued steel "beetle and poker" hands. Notes The decoration of this watch is inspired by the fine 17th century enamel paintings of the Frères Huaud. It is in near mint condition.
