Climbing Monkeys Swiss. Produced circa 1810. Rare and unusual, quarter-repeating, 18K gold automaton watch. Three-body,"Empire", solid, engine-turned back, reeded band, hinged gilt brass cuvette. White enamel chapter ring with Breguet numerals. Blued steel "Breguet" hands. Glazed three-color gold chased automaton scene applied on a blued steel ground and driven by the repeating train: two monkeys climbing along two columns and striking the hours and quarters on two bells. Gilt brass, full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusée with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flatalance-spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece, repeating on two gongs by depressing the pendant.Diam. 54 mm.
