(Nicolas) Du Quesne, Paris, circa 1720. Fine gilt brass single-hand oignon watch. Two-body, back chiseled and engraved with the scene of an Oriental lady in a garden, foliate border and bezel. Blue radial Roman chapter on white enamel cartouches set on gilt brass engraved plate, inner enamel quarter-hour ring. Blued steel "tulip" hand. 44 mm, frosted gilt full plate, Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, 3-arm steel balance, silver cock, Tompion-type regulator with silver scale disc.Signed on the movement.Diam. 56 mm. Notes Nicolas Duquesne Is listed in 1713 at Abbaye Saint-Germain des Prés, in 1715 at Rue de la Comédie Française. He was married first in 1716, and a second time in 1728. He is recorded later at rue des Grands Augustins, and at Rue Dauphine. He died around 1733.
