Goupil Bunel, à Ville Dieu, circa 1785. Interesting and unusual silver watch commemorating the first flight of the Montgolfier brothers’ hot air balloon. Two-body, the back engraved with a scene depicting a hot-air balloon emblazoned with the Bourbon monogram, a duck in its basket, a village in the background, applauding spectators in the foreground, bezel engraved with repeated pattern. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute dot divisions, winding aperture at 2 o’clock. Brass "sun" hands. 37 mm, hinged, frosted gilt full-plate with pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock.Signed on dial and movement. Diam. 46 mm.
