Wolfgang Stadler, Ingolstatt (Germany), circa 1740. Fine and unusual octagonal silvered brass pocket watch with alarm, which can be used as a table clock. Octagonal, side panels pierced and engraved in floral pattern, plain bezel, back with shuttered winding aper-tures,eight bun feet, small pendant with loose ring. Silver ring with champlevé radial Roman numerals, outerarcaded minute track with five-minute Arabic markers, center with gilt brass alarm setting disc. Blued steel"beetle and poker" hands. Circular, 50 mm, frosted gilt full-plate with turned baluster pillars, fusee and chain,verge escapement, brass balance with flat balance spring, single-footed cock, alarm on a bell fixed to the case.Movement signed.Dim. Width 62 mm., height 30 mm. Notes Wolfgang Stadler Is listed by Abeler as working during 1728-1753. Abeler also lists two of his Wolfgang Stadler’s clocks, one is called a zappler clock, and the other one, a crucifix clock.
