Joseph Gay, Horloger du Roy, a Turin, No. 5623, circa 1780. Fine gilt bronze hour and half-hour, quarter repeating Pendule d’Officier with alarm. Gilt bronze, with round feet, engine-turned bezel, the pediment and side panels with applied foliate decoration, hinged serpent-shape handle at the top. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Gilt brass pierced hands. Circular 120 mm, gilt brass with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, steel four-arm balance, flat balance cock, gilt brass plain continental cock with polished steel end-piece, striking and repeating of Neuchâtel type on two bells with the striking and repeating works fitted on the back plate, cord released for repeating at will; pull wound alarm.Dim. 25 x 14 x 10 cm.
