Courvoisier & Companie, La Chaux-de-Fonds, No. 1015, circa 1820. Very fine mahogany and gilt bronze grande et petite sonnerie quarter repeating early pendule d’officier with alarm, and original key. Rectangular with molded base, mahogany, solid, with sliding back door, folding gilt brass handle chased with stylized foliage, hinged ormolu bezel with bead decoration, gilt bronze bun feet, cord from the right panel terminated with a ring for alarm, and en suite from the left panel for repeating, lever at the base for switching from grande to petite sonnerie to silent. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued-steel Breguet hands, winding apertures for going and striking trains. Circular, 97 mm, going barrels, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued-steel flat balance spring, rack and pinion regulator, quarter repeating and striking on two gongs with the mechanisms mounted on the back plate, pull wind alarm striking on its own bell, fitted on the top.Signed on the dial, numbered on the back plate, the key punched “FC”.Diam. height 22 cm (without handle), base width 15.7 cm.
