Double body cast gilt brass in the early 17th century style with faceted crystal glass. Cast silver with Roman numerals, the centr e with a floral decoration. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with Egyptian pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, early short flat balance spring, Gilt brass cock pierced in such a way the newly invented balance spring in clearly visible. Repeating on a bell by depressing the pendant. Signed on the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 56 mm. Notes Although this watch was produced roughly 25 years after the invention of the balance .spring by Christian Iluygens in 1675, the cock is pierced in such a way that this important improvement is cleanly visible.
