Daniel Mauris, (Geneva), made for the English Market, circa 1690. Fine and rare silver pair cased, early moon phase astronomical calendar watch. Double body, outer, leather covered with silver pique decoration (slightly damaged). Double body inner bassine, polished with split bezel and loose ring pendant, the back with a winding hole shutter. Gilt brass, fully engraved with foliage decoration, apertures for the days of the week, the month and the four parts of the clay, subsidiary silver chapter rings for the time with Roman hour numerals, the date and the age of the moon with inner moon phase aperture. Blued steel baluster turned hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with tulip pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, English gilt brass cock, flat balance spring. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 61 mm.
