Mixed-media Brooch/Sculpture, Tod Pardon, "Left Handed Amazons," inlaid with glass, wood, and mother-of-pearl in sterling silver and 14kt gold, colored glass and gold bead hair, lg. 3, no. 1796, signed T. Pardon, together with a titled, signed, and numbered stand, ht. 4 1/4 in. Note: The son of Earl Pardon, Tod Pardon's work shows the influences of African sculpture, pop culture, and surrealism. These anthropomorphic brooches are accompanied by stands to allow the pieces to function as sculptures when not worn. His work is in the permanent collections of Renwick Gallery, Washington, D.C., and the American Craft Museum, New York, and others.
