Bayley Gold Quarter-repeating Repousse Watch, London, c. 1735, the outer pierced and finely detailed repousse case depicting Cleopatra and Anthony opens to the inner pierced and engraved 22kt gold case and inner mounted bell, porcelain dial with Roman numerals and gold beetle and poker hands, swing-out fusee movement engraved Jno. Bayley, London , pierced balance cock with grotesque mask, diamond endstone, stem-activated dual-hammer repeating mechanism with silent lever, dia. 48 mm. Note: Under the bell is an "A" in a flat-top shield for the dating 1736-37. The convex side of the bell is marked "DRury," reportedly a London bell maker. Appears to be in very fine condition, hairline on dial in the 6-7 area, quarter hour repeat functioning well.
