Abraham Bernard Japanned Oak Tavern Clock, Bristol, England, c. 1785, segmented turned wooden bezel over the 22-in. painted wooden dial with Roman numerals above the japanned waist door, the case marked Abrah. Bernard , Bristol below the dial, case sides and scroll base all gilt decorated, eight-day, time-only, pull-wind, brass movement with iron pendulum rod and brass-faced bob all powered by an iron weight, ht. 56 in. Some losses of japanning. Dial repainted, hinged bezel door latch missing, mechanism complete and original but recommended cleaning and lubrication.
