Phillip Makanna (American, b. 1940) Four and Twenty Blackbirds Signed "Makanna" l.l., dated and titled "Philip Makanna 2/62..." on the reverse, identified on a label from the Brockton Art Association (see below), Brockton, Massachusetts, affixed to the strainer. Oil and paper collage on Masonite, 48 x 52 in. (121.9 x 132.1 cm), framed. Condition: Surface grime. Exhibitions: Brockton Art Association Fifth Annual Show, 1962. Subtle bowing to board, oil and paper collage on Masonite, partial paper disadhesion to u.r. quadrant and u.l. corner, minor paint loss u.r. with visible nail head.
