Laura Gilpin (American, 1891-1979) From the D. H. Lawrence Ranch, New Mexico, 1971. Signed and dated "Laura Gilpin 1971" on the mat. Gelatin silver print, sight size 10 3/8 x 13 1/4 in. (26.3 x 33.5 cm), framed. Condition: Minor imperfection to the image (presumably from the negative), not examined out of frame. Provenance: From the collection of Austin Lamont, by family descent. Sheet size approximately 11 x 14 in. Sheet mounted to back mat. Mat size 16 x 20 in. Photograph identified on a label from Laura Gilpin on the back of the mat. Small retouched abrasion, about 1/4 in. long c.r., plus another near the upper left corner, impressed line measuring 2 in. long and visible in raking light in the center. Scattered printing flaws (perhaps scrattes within the negative) primarily - but not limited to - in upper corners.
