Anna Sophie Gasteiger (German, 1878-1954) Autumn Landscape by a Lake Signed "A. Gasteiger." l.r. Oil on canvas, 26 3/4 x 38 1/2 in. (67.9 x 97.8 cm), unframed. Condition: Scattered losses, minor surface grime. Largest paint loss is triangular in shape, located in the l.l. quadrant and measuring 1/2 x 1 inch. The area corresponds to the reinforcement patch on the reverse. Another paint loss center top, 2 1/2 inches down from the top. Scattered other tiny paint losses. Surface accretions, including two tiny paper remnants in the l.r. corner. Stretcher bar marks top and bottom. Discolored varnish and surface grime. Patch reinforcement and staining to the reverse.
