Frank Weston Benson (American, 1862-1951) Portsmouth Harbor, 1916, published state, edition of 11 (Paff, 97). Signed "FrankWBenson." in pencil l.l., numbered "6" in pencil l.r., initialed and dated within the plate. Etching on paper, plate size 7 1/4 x 6 in. (18.2 x 15.0 cm), framed. Condition: Staining to lower margin and just into image, gentle rippling, not examined out of frame. Provenance: Descended within the family of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morse of Boston. Out of the frame the sheet measures 11 1/2 x 9 1/8 in. It is Shogun paper with a watermark and has deckled edges. There are brown paper tape "hinges" at the upper corners. Soiling and annotations are in the lower margin, and there are minor creases to the left margin.
