Continental Baroque Tortoiseshell and Metal Mounted Jewel Casket, early 18th century, domed hinged lid, with top lifting handle, set with leaf and figural-engraved silver or white metal strapwork throughout, on small ball feet, wd. 5 1/4, ht. 3 1/2, dp. 2 3/8 in. with figural silver key (repaired). Some shrinkage cracks throughout, the largest being to lid (runs from left side of central metal mount to edge of left side). loss to right side metal mount at lid, to tip of left rear metal mount to lid, and to end of base mount. wear to feet, with two feet likely replaced. chips to front lower right corner, and to center of rear base. lacking a few pins. age wear to exterior finish of shell.
