Aesthetic Movement Japonisme Patinated Metal Smoking Set, late 19th century, mainly copper, with silver patination, comprising rectangular tray with ruffled rim, mounted with copper figures of a snail, turtle and flower stem, set with a matchbox, an ashtray mounted with a bee, two ovoid beakers, one mounted with a dragonfly, the other with a salamander and moth, and a lidded tobacco jar, mounted with staghorn beetle and snowdrops, the lid with prunus and elephant-form finial, tray 13 x 10 3/4, jar ht. 6 1/2 in. turtle need reattaching to tray. frame for one of the beakers need reattching to tray. loss to much of the patination throughout. light rim denting throughout.
