Set of Madame Alexander Composition Dionne Quintuplets, c. 1935, Yvonne, Annette, Cecile, Emelie, and Marie, with painted brown eyes, molded hair, swivel necks, five-piece bent-limb composition bodies, in original respective colors, matching bonnets, name pins, shoes and socks, ht. 7, (overall very good, minor wear), riding in white-painted trolley with red disc wheels, lg. 17 in.; set of five costumed crocheted by the original owner; Royal Winton china dish with transfer design showing "New Hone of Dionne Quintuplets, Callander, Ontario, Canada"; stamped aluminum bowl decorated with the name and face of each Quintuplet; newspaper advertisement for Quaker Oats featuring Dr. Dafoe and the Quintuplets; and a handwritten note from the seller. Provenance: A gift to the seller, the dolls' original owner, from her father. This particular set of Quintuplets was a promotional effort by Wonder Bread, involving the collection of 500 cellophane wrappers. The seller's father owned a grocery store, and customers would contribute wrappers for his seven year-old daughter, who was recovering in hospital from an automobile accident at the time.
