School of Constant Troyon (French, 1810-1865) Cows in a Landscape Unsigned. Oil on canvas, 24 x 30 in. (61.0 x 76.2 cm), framed. Condition: Mounted onto board, scattered retouch, mild varnish inconsistencies, scattered abrasions, minor nicks/wear to edges, tear to l.l. edge, craquelure, surface grime. The work is indistinctly inscribed "...83..." in the lower right corner, with surface rubs to that area. Additional minor scattered surface rubs. Retouch is a few scattered small areas including two small tears/losses to the far right edge and one small loss directly to the left of the shepardess. Craquelure appears mostly stable with areas of gentle lifting. Wear to edges of canvas (beneath the frame liner). There is some yellowing to the varnish layer and the work would probably benefit from a gentle cleaning.
