Attributed to Seth Eastman (American, 1808-1875) Ball Play of the Sioux on the St. Peters River in Winter Unsigned, identified on a label affixed to the backing. Oil on board, 13 x 18 in. (32.5 x 45.5 cm), framed. Condition: Curve to support, varnish inconsistencies, surface grime. N.B. The work is nearly identical to Ballplay of the Dakota on the St. Peters River in Winter of 1848, presently in the collection of the Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth, Texas. There is no retouch and the support is in stable condition. The work could use a cleaning.
