Cosmetic Box with Jade Plaque, China, late Qing dynasty, the circular box finely incised with magnolia flowers around the exterior, the cover inset with an oval white jade plaque, carved in low relief as a confronting three-clawed dragon with a flaming pearl amongst clouds, encircled by a band of semi-precious jewels, the interior of the cover set with a mirror, ht. 2 1/4, lg. 5 3/4, wd. 5 1/4, jade plaque possibly Ming period, 4 1/4 x 3 3/4 in. Cracks and losses to the jewels
