Gilt-bronze Archaistic Wine Vessel, Jue , China, 19th century, cast with a typical pair of short posts on the mouth-rim dividing the pouring mouth and a lip, decorated around the exterior with a band of two pairs of archaistic birds confronting each other, against a leiwen -ground, one side with a loop handle issuing from an animal-head, raised on three tapered blade legs, with jin wen engraved on the lip and the bottom, ht. 6 1/2 in. Loss to the gilt overall
