Gilt-bronze Amida Buddha, China, 18th century, figure of Buddha seated in dhyanasana posture on a square throne, both palms facing upwards, his diaphanous robe hanging down properly to the front, ht. 7 1/2 in. Dents to the head, cracks to the base of the throne, loss to the gilt and green malachite encrustation, Chinese characters "yi san bai shi wu" (three hundred and fifteen) carved to the front inside of the base
