Framed Modern Painting, Qi Baishi (1863-1957), ink on paper, Shrimp , inscribed with "Qiwu xiansheng qingyuan wuzi, bashiba sui Baishi," dated 1948, signed, one seal, framed, 41 x 13 1/2 in. Provenance: Given to Charles Chu by Eva and Robert Tharp. Robert Tharp is the author of "They Called Us White Chinese", an autobiography of his missionary journey to China in the early 1900's. The inscription says it was dedicated to Mr. Qiwu, which may have been a Chinese nickname for Tharp. It was painted when Qi Baishi was eighty-eight years old. Some foxing
