Pair of Wucai Bowls, China, 19th century, the interior painted with a peony sprig in the central medalion, encircled by leaf, conch, ribbon in the cavetto, the exterior decorated with foo dogs playing brocade balls alternating with peony sprays, brown glaze around the mouth-rim, apocryphal Chenghua six-character mark on the base, dia. 6 7/8, ht. 2 in. Rubbing to the enamel, considerable wear, nicks to the foot ring, chip to the mouth rim of one bowl
