Dutch Painted Walnut Sled, 19th century, typical form with turned wood push-bar and borders applied with openwork panels of scrolling foliage and symbolic plaques, with plain interior; exterior painted with scenes of fowl in various landscapes, with wrought iron runners, ht. 35, lg. 38, wd. 17 in. Property sold for the benefit of the Brooklyn Museum. Overall fair to good condition; armorial plaque to front of sled off but present; one scrolled finial at front of sled broken but present; openwork foliage in good condition but heavily repainted in gold; panels mostly in good shape with chipping around edges and one with cracks along the same; very dirty overall and with generally age typical defects, shrinkage, etc.
