Autographed letter signed ("W. M.M."), one page, on a bifolium, Harrg (Harrisburg), November 3, 1837. Additionally signed ("W.M. Meredith") on the verso and addressed to his wife ("Ms. W.M. Meredith, Philadelphia"). Meredith was a Whig politician from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who served as the 19th U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under Zackary Taylor. In the present letter, Meredith writes to his wife, Katherine Keppele Meredith, to notify her of the most recent news from the 1837 Judiciary Committee on the Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention. [Together with:] a 10-cent fractional currency note from 1847 featuring a portrait of Meredith on the front. 10 x 8 inches.
