Maryland painted dower chest, dated 1791 , the front with a faded salmon ground, a central stylized tulip with date and the initials "P. S.", flanked by 6 tulips, trailing vines and diamonds, all within a black and yellow sawtooth border, over a base molding resting on straight bracket feet, 23" h., 48" w. (loss to left rear foot). Provenance: Removed from an Arlington, MD home.
