English, 18th century (circa 1720-1760). A mahogany wood framed side chair exhibiting a transitional style, the tall back recalls the earlier William and Mary period, while the cabriole front legs reflect the new Queen Anne style, comprising a tall back and trapezoidal seat upholstered in gold and mustard brocade fabric, above the mahogany frame comprising two front cabriole legs with molded cyma curve scrolled bracket corners terminating in biscuit feet joined to raking lamb's tongue chamfered back legs by an H shaped block and baluster turned stretcher. Approximate height 36", width 22", depth 23", seat depth 15", seat to floor 17".
