Pennsylvania Quakers, Land Deed, 1688. Manuscript land indenture, on vellum, signed by Moses Mildenhall, bottom center, transferring the ownership of land along the Delaware River in Pennsylvania originally given to him by William Penn, to his brothers John and Benjamin Mildenhall, and sisters Mary Newlin, and Margery Martin (the Mildenhalls changed their name to Mendenhall upon their arrival in America). The Mendenhalls are one of the founding families of the Penn-inspired Quaker colony in America. Wave-cut pattern at top, signed by Moses Mildenhall at bottom center, decorative initial. Document folded in fifths; overall light soiling; some separation at creases with minor loss.
