ROLEX REF 1807 BURGUNDY STELLA DIAMOND DIAL Rolex, "Oyster Perpetual, Day-Date, Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified", case No. 3778339, Ref. 1807/1803. Made in 1974. Very fine and rare, tonneau-shaped, center-seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, 18K yellow gold wristwatch with day and date and bark-finished bezel with a yellow gold plated Rolex buckle. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, bark-finished bezel, screwed down case back and crown, crystal with Cyclops lens. Burgundy with applied diamond indexes and luminous dots, outer minutes/seconds divisions, apertures for the day and date. Luminous yellow gold baton hands. Cal.1556, rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 26 jewels, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and five positions, straight line lever escapement, shock-absorber, self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance-spring, Microstella regulating screws, hack mechanism. Notes Dial, case and movement signed. DIAM. 36 mm. THICKNESS 12 mm. Usually Stella dials are found on reference 1803 and more rarely on the bark-finish version reference 1807 such as this one. This example also features the rare double set square diamond index at 6 and 9 when usually these indexes are set with a baguette diamond.
