MYLIUS QUARTER-REPEATING WATCH YELLOW GOLD C. F. Mylius à Francfort, No. 154. Made circa 1820. Very fine, quarter-repeating, 18K gold pocket watch. Four-body, Empire, engine-turned, slide at 1 for locking the repeating. Hinged gilt-metal cuvette. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute track, secured by a screw. Blued steel Breguet hands. 50 mm., matte gilt, full plate, the barrel under a separate bridge, repeat barrel under a polished steel plate, cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, flat balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Notes Dial, cuvette and movement signed. DIAM. 57 mm. Little is known of the watchmaker CARL FRIEDRICH MYLIUS although he was evidently a highly competent maker. His son, also called Carl Friedrich Mylius was a well known photographer in Frankfurt.
