Donated by Darryl Strawberry and ESQ Notes Darryl Strawberry Born in 1962 in Los Angeles, California, Darryl Strawberry has been in Major League Service now for over 14 years. His passion is Baseball and now plays with the Yankees. His career highlights include: 1982-named Texas League Most Valuable Player after leading the league in HR, BB and SLG (slugging percentages). That same year, he established the Jackson record for HR and was promoted to Class AA Tidewater for the International League Playoffs. 1983-received 18 of 24 first-place votes to earn the National League Rookie of the Year Award and hit his first Major League home run in his 27th AB, a 2-run HR off Lee Tunnell on 5/16 in Pittsburgh.. 1984-on 4/4 in Cincinati played center field for the first time in his career. 1985-on 9/3 in Chicago became the third Mets player in history to homer 3 times in a game. 1987-with 39 HR and 36 stolen bases joined Howard Johnson (36 HR, 32 SB) as the only pair of 30-30 teammates in baseball history. 1988-led the National League with 39 HR, tying the Mets club record set in 1987 and finished second in the National League Most Valuable Player voting. 1989-hit the 200th HR of his career on 6/9 © Pgh off Doug Drabek 1990-established a Mets record with 108 RBI and became the first Met to record at least 100 RBI in 3 seasons (1987-88). 1991-established a Dodger record for HR by a left-handed batter with 28, the most since Pedro Guerrer
