Mery a Paris No. 163, circa 1800. Very fine and rare 18K gold, dumb quarter repeating watch with Robin escapement. Double body by Tavernier (Master mark) No. 1989, engine-turned, of the type used by Breguet for his early perrlvetuell and garde-lentils. White enamel with Breguet numerals. Blued-steel Breguet hands with skeletonised tips. Hinged gilt-brass full plate with conical pillars, going barrel, del:ent-lever Robin escapement, plain gold three-arm balance, flat balance spring, polished-steel end-piece and regulator. Repeating on the edge of the case by depressing the pendant. Signed on the dial and the back plate. Diam. 56 mm. Notes Of very high quality, watches by Mery are very rare, the few known to exist are almost identical to those produced by Robert Robin towards the end of the 18th century. It was described in Horlogerie Ancie cne No. 23, Decembre 1978, page 45: Histoire de l'eehappenaent ti ancre - Les montses a ancre /fantaises de to premiere generation.
