Mallet à Paris, No. 8223, circa 1785. Fine 18 ct. gold and enamel, diamond set, quarter dumb repeating watch. Double body, Louis XVI, rose-diamond set bezel, pendant and bow, the back of blue translucent enamel over engine-turning, centered with a painted scene of two cupids, in a diamond-set frame. Chased borders with enamelled floral decoration. Contemporary, white enamel, with Arabic numerals. Later cathédrale hands. GiIt brass, full plate with conical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three armed balance, flat balance spring,l continental gilt brass cock and polished steel end-piece. Signed on the back plate. In good condition. Diam. 38 mm.
