Jean André pinxit, anno 1686. JoH. Leonh, Pomel, Nürnberg, watchmaker. Extremely rare and very fine 22 ct. gold and enamel watch. Enamel, with Roman numerals, the center painted with the portrait of Diane with her dog. GiIt brass full plate with pierced Egyptian pillars, four wheel train, fusee with original chain, verge escapement, plain three armed steel balance, English style gilt brass cock, pierced and engraved with scrolls and flowers. In good condition. Diam. 42 mm. Notes This watch is the second, actually known, signed and dated by this eminent maker, Master in 1675. Pupil of Pierre Huault lst, was also trained by François Legare and Pierre Royaume, associated goldsmiths. Pierre Huault, emigrated Huguenot, was coming from Blois where he was apprentice. He kept in Geneva part of the technic learned with his French Masters. He also developed Iater in Geneva a new pointillist painting technic which he has transmitted to his pupil.
