Hilaire Bassereau, Palais Royal, Paris, circa 1800. Rare and interesting silver watch with special escapement, Contemporary three body "forme quatre baguettes", polished with reeded band. White enamel with Breguet numerals and outer gilt minute ring. Blued-steel Breguet hands. Frosted and gilt Lepine caliber with engraved free-standing barrel and bridges, Robin type detent-lever escapement, plain gold three armed balance, blued-steel flat balance spring. Signed on the dial. In good condition. Diam. 63 mm. Notes Bassereau, Jean-Hilaire, fine Parisian maker, was a pupil of Lepine. He died in 1806.
