M. I. Tobias, & Co., Liverpool, Lord Street, No. 7143, with Chester hallmarks for 1824. Fine silver hunting cased watch with special escapement. Three body, "consular", cover and back polished, marked "7.W." (John Widdowson), with integrate dome. White enamel with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Blued steel " peat" hands. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain and maintaining power, rack-lever escapement with 15 tooth escape wheel, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator, gilt brass balance cock engraved with decoration and "Patent" , diamond endstone. Gilt brass dust-cap. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 55 mm. Notes The inscription "Patent" on the balance cock, refers to the invention of the rack-lever escapement patented by Litherland in 1791.
