William Pybus, London, made for the Chinese market, circa 1790. Fine and rare, extra large gilt brass, paste-set, double face astronomical watch with triple calendar and centre seconds. Double body, Consular, glazed on both faces, the bezels set with alternate white and red stones. White enamel on the front face with small eccentric Roman chapter ring, centre seconds and subsidiary dials for the age of the moon, the days of the week and the regulator index. White enamel on the rear face with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring, the year calendar and the signs of the Zodiac with their own subdivisions Gold hands. Hinged gilt brass with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring. Signed on the dial. In very good condition. Diam. 100 mm.
