Dufour & Ceret à Ferney, circa 1780. Very fine 18 ct. gold mounted, pearl and ruby set bloodstone watch, with a short gold chain, a bloodstone set gold key and a coral and bloodstone set gold seal. Double body Louis XVI, with split pearl set band, ruby set bezels, the back made of bloodstone. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Gold Louis XV hands. Hinged giIt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece. Signed on the dial and back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 34 mm. Notes Dufour & Ceret were managers of the so called Fabrique Royale de Ferney, organised and protected by Voltaire.
