Abraham Caillatte (Geneva), the enamel attributed to Peter Huaud le père, circa 1665. Extremely fine and rare 20 ct. gold and enamel piqué pair caised watch. Outer double body with gilt frame, leather covered with gold pin-work decoration, the back centred with a rosette. Inner double body bassine, enamelled overall, the exterior decorated with wreathe of foliage enamelled "en pate" in pink, black and white on a turquoise ground and centred with a raised portrait bust of an Amazon. Interior with a pink, black and white rosette over a turquoise ground. White enamel chapter ring, the central decoration matching that of the case. Loose-ring pendant. Single balusterturned blued steel hand. Hinged gilt brass full plate with gilt brass pierced and engraved pillars, fusee with gut line, three wheel train with verge escapement, plain two-arm steel balance without spring, irregular oval form cock pierced and engraved with foliage. Worm-andwheel set-up with delicately pierced blued steel brackets, silver regulator disc and pierced and engraved applied decoration. Signed on the back plate. In very good condition. Diam. 39 mm. Notes Abraham Caillatte (1642 - 1710), French refugee, son of Matthieu Caillatte. He worked frequently with Pierre Huaud le Père. Pierre Huault, emigrated Huguenot, was coming from Blois where he was apprentice. He kept in Geneva part of the technic learned with his French Masters.
